棕櫚の主日に向けて心を整えましょう
受難節（レント）が深まるにつれ、教会は棕櫚の主日へと目を向け始めます。棕櫚の主日*は、イエスがエルサレムに入られた日であり、人々が「ホサナ。主の御名によって来られる方に祝福があるように」と叫んで迎えた日です（マタイ21:9）。
棕櫚の主日まではまだ二週間ありますが、その日に向かう歩みはすでに始まっています。レントは、私たちに歩みを少しゆるめ、静かに振り返り、そして自分の人生の中におられるキリストの臨在に、もう一度心を開くよう招いています。日々の生活の忙しさと騒がしさの中で、エルサレムへと続く道を、気づかないまま通り過ぎてしまうことは容易です。しかし福音書は、イエスがその道を意志をもって歩まれたことを思い起こさせます。それは苦しみへと向かう道であり、犠牲へと向かう道であり、そして最終的には復活の希望へと至る道でした。
棕櫚の主日へと向かうこの数週間、私たちは皆さんを、心を整える歩みに招きます。祈りと礼拝、そして静かな黙想の中で、私たちが棕櫚の枝だけでなく、自分の人生そのものをもってキリストをお迎えする喜びを、改めて見いだすことができますように。かつて人々が「ホサナ」と叫びながらイエスを迎えたように、私たちもまた、家庭においても、地域社会においても、そしてこの世界においても、主を新たにお迎えすることを学んでいきたいと思います。棕櫚の主日、そして聖週間へと歩むこの時、皆さんと共に礼拝できることを楽しみにしています。
注： 棕櫚の主日（しゅろのしゅじつ）とは、イエス・キリストが十字架にかかる前にエルサレムへ入城された出来事を記念する日で、イースター（復活祭）の一週間前の日曜日に祝われます。聖書によれば、人々はイエスを王として迎え、棕櫚（しゅろ）の枝を振りながら道に敷き、「ホサナ（主よ、救ってください）」と叫んで歓迎しました（マタイ21:1–11）。教会ではこの出来事を記念して、棕櫚の枝を用いた行進や礼拝が行われます。棕櫚の主日は、喜びに満ちた歓迎の日であると同時に、イエスが十字架へ向かう聖週間の始まりを告げる日でもあります。
Preparing Our Hearts for Palm Sunday (Summary)
As the season of Lent deepens, the church begins to look toward Palm Sunday*. Palm Sunday commemorates the day when Jesus entered Jerusalem and the crowds welcomed Him with the words, “Hosanna! Blessed is the one who comes in the name of the Lord” (Matthew 21:9). Although Palm Sunday is still two weeks away, the journey toward that day has already begun. Lent invites us to slow our pace, to reflect quietly, and to open our hearts once again to the presence of Christ in our lives. In the busyness and noise of daily life, it is easy to pass by the road that leads to Jerusalem without noticing. Yet the Gospel reminds us that Jesus walked that road with intention—toward suffering, toward sacrifice, and ultimately toward the hope of resurrection. During these weeks leading up to Palm Sunday, we invite you to join us in preparing your hearts. Through prayer, worship, and quiet reflection, may we rediscover the joy of welcoming Christ—not only with palm branches, but with our whole lives. Just as the people long ago welcomed Jesus with shouts of “Hosanna,” may we also learn to welcome Him anew in our homes, our communities, and our world. * Palm Sunday is the Christian holy day that marks Jesus’ entry into Jerusalem, one week before Easter. According to the Gospels (e.g., Matthew 21:1–11), Jesus rode into the city on a donkey, and the crowds welcomed Him by waving palm branches and shouting “Hosanna!”—a word meaning “Lord, save us.” Many churches remember this event on the Sunday before Easter. Palm branches are often used in worship to symbolize the people’s welcome. Palm Sunday also begins Holy Week, the final days leading to Jesus’ crucifixion and resurrection.
